Congress President and All India Congress Committee (AICC) chief Mallikarjun Kharge was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on Tuesday night. His son, Priyank Kharge informed that the 82-year-old leader was admitted to hospital for planned procedure to implant pacemaker.
“Sri Kharge was advised pacemaker to be implanted and is admitted to the hospital for the planned procedure. He is stable and doing well…,” read Priyank Kharge’s post on X.
Earlier, party sources said the was taken to hospital on doctors’ advice, where he immediately underwent a series of medical examinations.
Health condition under observation
Doctors at the hospital have confirmed that Kharge’s condition remains stable. A team of specialists is closely monitoring his health and carrying out further tests to determine the cause of the fever. The hospital administration is expected to release a detailed medical bulletin soon. Party leaders stressed that there was no immediate cause for alarm, but Kharge will remain under observation until his condition stabilises fully.
At 82, Kharge is one of the most experienced figures in Indian politics. As AICC President since October 2022, he has steered the Congress through multiple electoral challenges and continues to play a central role in shaping its national strategy. Known for his tireless schedule, Kharge has recently been engaged in back-to-back political programmes and meetings.
For now, doctors insist that Kharge’s condition is stable and under close observation.
