The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday rejected the government’s proposal to hold talks at Union Health Minister JP Nadda’s office, reiterating that it would participate in discussions only at a “neutral venue”.
The development comes even as Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh has said the Centre remains ready to hold talks with the student protesters at a venue of their choosing.
Addressing protesters at Jantar Mantar, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka asked the gathering, “Do you want to hold talks at Nadda’s office?” He then rejected the government’s offer, insisting that any discussions should take place at a neutral venue.
Earlier, Union Health Minister JP Nadda had invited the student protesters to meet him either at his residence or office for talks.
Asked if the government is ready for another round of talks with the CJP, Nadda told reporters in the Parliament House complex, “Yes, we are ready”.
“They can come either to my residence or my office,” he said when asked about the venue of meeting.
On Wednesday too, the CJP declined a similar invitation from Nadda, maintaining that it would engage with the government only if the discussions were held at a neutral venue.
