In ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, Ajay Devgan had told that many years ago an illegal software was introduced through which messages could be sent from any other number. That is, the recipient of the message thought that he had received the message from the original number.

Ajay used this software to prank his friend and public relations (PR) expert Parag Desai. Parag Desai was also PR of Amitabh Bachchan. Ajay sent a message to Parag from Amitabh Bachchan’s number at around 10 pm.

The message read, “Come and meet me at 5:30 in the morning.” Seeing the message, Parag became tensed as to what might have happened and he reached Amitabh Bachchan’s house at 5.30 in the morning. At that time Amitabh Bachchan was in the gym and he said to Parag, “So early in the morning?”

On which Parag told him that you had called him. Amitabh Bachchan asked with surprise, “Why would I call?”

Parag Desai is Amitabh Bachchan’s longtime PR publicist and media manager.

After this Parag showed him the same message. Amitabh Bachchan also got upset after seeing the message. He did not understand who sent this message from his number.

Ajay Devgan told on the show that later he told the truth of the entire prank to Amitabh Bachchan.

Ajay further told in a humorous manner that Amitabh Bachchan asked him for the same software.

Cannabis was mixed in Javed Jaffrey’s food

Ajay Devgan also did a prank with actor Javed Jaffrey. Javed Jaffrey had shared an incident related to Ajay’s prank in an interview given to Mirchi Plus. This story is from the shooting of the film ‘De De Pyar De 2’.

Javed Jaffrey had told that on the occasion of Mahashivratri, Ajay had jokingly mixed cannabis in the food available on the set. Javed, who neither drinks alcohol nor smokes, unknowingly ate more of the same food.

Ajay Devgan and Javed Jaffrey have worked together in comedy films like Total Dhamaal (2019) and De De Pyaar De 2 (2025).

After some time he started feeling strange. He told that it seemed as if he was falling into a black hole and everything around was shaking. The condition became so bad that they became nervous and felt that they would not be able to survive.

Javed went to his room in panic. He called his assistant, wife and son Meezaan Jafri. He felt that this was his last time, so he was ready to write his will. Later it was revealed that this was Ajay Devgan’s joke.

Film publicist made accused in drugs case

There is another interesting incident related to Ajay Devgan’s pranks. Film publicist Rajendra Rao was pranked by Ajay and implicated in a case of fake drugs. Ajay had accepted this in an interview given to Mid Day.

Let us tell you that a film publicist is a person who handles the publicity and promotion of a film or artist. Rajendra Rao had promoted films like Lagaan, Swades and Sarfarosh.

In the year 2003-2004, Ajay Devgan was shooting a film in Diu (Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu), which also featured Ameesha Patel. The shooting was going on around Diu Fort. Rajendra Rao was also present during that time. He was a cheerful and funny person, but that day he was in a bad mood because one of his bags was left at the Mumbai airport. They were repeatedly talking about leaving the bag.

Ajay thought why not do a prank on this. He contacted the Superintendent of Police of Diu and prepared a complete plan. He secretly put a small packet of salt in Rajendra Rao’s pocket, so that it could later be classified as drugs.

During the shooting, suddenly a police van reached the set. Along with him was the Superintendent of Police, who was searching for Rajendra Rao. Rajendra thought that his bag had been found, but the matter turned out to be different.

Police said that a huge quantity of drugs were found in his bag and he was immediately arrested. He was caught and taken away in front of everyone. The atmosphere became very serious.

Rajendra Rao was taken to the police station and interrogated. He was asked questions. During search, a packet of salt was found in his pocket. The police tasted it and said, “This is cocaine.” Rajendra became very nervous after hearing this.

By evening the situation became so bad that the police officer called Ajay Devgan and said that now this joke is becoming too much and it should be ended. At around 8 pm the truth came out and Rajendra Rao was released.

When Rajendra came back, he was extremely angry. He scolded Ajay a lot and said that one should never joke like this with anyone. He even locked himself in the hotel room for about 24 hours. Later, both of them sat together and had a drink and the matter calmed down.
