CJI DY Chandrachud on Sunday attended the 32nd Annual Convocation Day of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru.
CJI said, ‘True leaders recognize their strengths and weaknesses. They use their strengths to advance others. They seek help to overcome their shortcomings.’
He said that young graduates (law) should have great thinking as well as become compassionate human beings. They should take decisions with their personality and patience.
The decision-making process is filled with uncertainty, but it is nothing to be afraid of. Because it is in these moments of uncertainty that your character is forged. Whatever your path in the years to come, your own decisions are likely to have positive consequences. I urge you to walk this journey with patience and humility.
CJI said- We have become a generation that gets satisfaction with little effort In his address, the CJI discussed the virtues of patience. He said that studies have shown that we have become a generation that finds satisfaction in small efforts. Due to the rapidly changing world, climate change, new forms of entertainment like social media and eagerness to change social evils, we want short-term results for complex problems.
CJI said that we need to pay attention to decisions taken in haste. It harms our mental health in the long term. It cannot bring positive change for your target in the long term. It is very important for lawyers to keep this in mind.
Young law graduates should build a strong help network CJI said that young law graduates should create a strong help network. This will help them deal with problems. Along with this, they should spend time with family and friends.
“In times of uncertainty, when (law graduates) are faced with tough choices, pause and remember to listen to your intuition. Your instincts are a reflection of your training and experience,” he said.
The CJI said that based on my 24-year career as a Justice, I can tell you that in Indian courts, we argue in the first person rather than the third person. We do not argue for the clients, we argue as them.
When the case is over, we come back to ourselves. But when it is most needed, we not only represent our clients, but become their voice, their advocate, and their champion. Foundation stone of Academic Block of NLSIU laid The CJI laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the core academic block of NLSIU to be named as JSW Academic Block. According to the JSW Foundation, under the project, the existing building is to be converted into a multi-storey building. It will have lecture theatres, seminar rooms, faculty offices and research space.
