‘Choking Like Stuffed Pig’: Trump Rejects Iran’s Proposal To Reopen Strait Of Hormuz Until Nuclear Deal

Trump vows to maintain a naval blockade on Iran until it renounces nuclear weapons, while Iran threatens unprecedented action.

US President Donald Trump said he will continue the naval blockade against Iran until it agrees to address American concerns over its nuclear programme. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump asserted that easing pressure is not an option unless there is progress in nuclear talks.

“We’re having talks with Iran. They’ve come a long way. The question is whether or not they’re going to go far enough. At this moment, there will never be a deal unless they agree that there will be no nuclear weapons.”

Earlier on Wednesday, he also spoke to Axios on the same issue and said that Iran had suggested reopening the Strait of Hormuz first and delaying nuclear negotiations. However, this approach was rejected.

Trump described the blockade as more effective than military strikes. “The blockade is somewhat more effective than the bombing. They are choking like a stuffed pig. And it is going to be worse for them. They can’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump told Axios. Sources also said that, as of Tuesday night, he had not authorised any direct military action.

The remarks come shortly after Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself holding a gun, alongside the message, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY.” While he currently sees the blockade as his main leverage, sources told Axios that military action remains an option if Iran refuses to comply.

Despite the rising tensions, Trump avoided discussing specific military plans during the interview. He acknowledged that Iran appears willing to negotiate but remains firm on his stance. “They want to settle. They don’t want me to keep the blockade. I don’t want to [lift the blockade]because I don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Trump also claimed the blockade is severely affecting Iran’s oil exports, warning that its storage and pipelines are “getting close to exploding.” However, analysts have questioned whether the situation is as urgent as described.

Iran Issues Strong Warnings

Iran has responded with strong warnings. A senior security official told state media, Press TV, that the blockade “will soon be met with practical and unprecedented action.”

Iranian leaders have also accused the US of trying to force surrender through pressure and internal instability, signalling that tensions could rise further if the situation continues.
