The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) opened the marks verification and re-evaluation window for Class 12 students on June 2, 2026. The portal, which went live a day later than scheduled, crashed a few hours after the link was activated. Soon after it went live, many students reported technical issues.

Several students took to the microblogging platform X, claiming the portal had a strict time limit and was logging users out quickly, displaying a ‘login request expired’ message. They said that even after correctly entering all details and completing the captcha, they were receiving an error stating that verification had failed.

In response to this feedback, CBSE said it introduced key improvements, including longer session time limits, to improve the user experience. “Based on student feedback, we have further refined the platform, including extending session time limits to make the process more convenient and seamless,” CBSE posted on X.

The board also said it faced a ‘malicious attack’ on Tuesday, as some actors attempted to disrupt services on its re-evaluation portal. According to the board, a denial-of-service attack generated 1.5 million hits on the platform within two minutes, along with more than one lakh attempts at unauthorised file access.

“While thousands of students accessed the CBSE re-evaluation portal today, malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a barrage of cyberattacks,” the board said on X.

“The most recent being a denial-of-service (DoS) attack attempt, causing 1.5 million hits on the portal within a matter of two minutes and more than one lakh attempts at unauthorised file access,” it added.

Commenting on the cyberattack attempts detected on the CBSE re-evaluation portal, Srinivas L, joint MD and joint CEO at 63SATS Cybertech, the cybersecurity subsidiary of 63 Moons Technologies Limited, described the incident as a “coordinated, two-pronged operation.”

CBSE further stated that its revaluation portal is currently handling nearly 14,000 concurrent users, with over 28,000 successful submissions recorded as of 10 pm on June 2.
