CBSE Class 10, 12 Results 2026 LIVE Updates: Scorecards soon on DigiLocker and official website.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the class 12 results 2026 anytime soon. Once out, students will be able to check their scorecard by visiting the official websites cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, or digilocker.gov.in. At that time, students and their parent will be able to download online marksheets. However, students must note that these document is provisional in nature and they will have to visit their respective schools later on to get the official documents.

Now, CBSE not only issues the marksheet to students, there are several other key documents too which are distributed along with the Class 12 results. These serve as essential legal proof of your academic qualification and are required for pursuing higher education in India and overseas. Earlier, these documents were provided only in printed form and sent to students who passed the Class 12 board exams.

In recent years, CBSE has updated the list of documents it provides and introduced major changes in line with the legal recognition of digital documents. One of the three main certificates is no longer automatically given in physical form.

Here is a complete list of documents issued by the board, their importance, and where students will need to use them.

CBSE Class 12 Mark Sheet: Once the results are announced, CBSE issues a mark sheet to every student. The mark sheet shows the marks secured in each subject, including both theory and practical components. It also includes the student’s grades but does not show a grade point average or CGPA. CBSE has also stopped mentioning the overall percentage.

All students who clear the Class 12 board exam receive both a printed and a digital mark sheet. The physical mark sheet is sent to schools a few days after the results are declared. The digital mark sheet is available immediately at the time of the result announcement and can be downloaded from the student’s DigiLocker account. The board shares DigiLocker usernames and passwords with registered schools, and students can log in using those credentials.

CBSE Passing Certificate: Along with the mark sheet, CBSE also provides a passing certificate. For Class 12, this is known as the All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) certificate. It is an official document required for admission to higher education institutions, as well as for various career options and government recruitment. It does not show marks; it only confirms that the student has ‘passed’ the examination.

Like the mark sheet, the passing certificate is issued in both physical and digital formats. The digital copy can be downloaded from DigiLocker using the login details provided by the board.

Students and parents should be aware that although DigiLocker copies of the mark sheet and passing certificate are accepted by universities for admission, many colleges still ask for a copy of the printed certificate as well. Physical copies are also frequently needed for other legal procedures, such as applying for a passport or for admission to foreign universities. Therefore, students must collect their physical documents from their schools.

Migration Certificate: CBSE has traditionally issued a migration certificate to all Class 12 students after the results are declared. This certificate is especially important for students who are changing boards, moving to another state, or seeking admission to state universities after studying under the central board.

In 2024, CBSE announced that it would stop issuing physical migration certificates from the 2025 results onwards. From that year, only a digital migration certificate is made available through the student’s DigiLocker account. The board has confirmed that this digital certificate is valid and acceptable.

However, if a university specifically demands a physical migration certificate, CBSE allows students to apply for a printed copy through the board’s online portal. This facility is chargeable, and the certificate is issued after payment of the prescribed fee. The fee must be checked at the time of application, but it was Rs. 500 in 2025.

Additional Certificates from Schools

Besides the documents issued by CBSE, schools also provide a Character Certificate and provisional certificates to their enrolled students. Since official digital certificates are now available immediately after the results are announced, most schools have stopped issuing provisional mark sheets and certificates.

Students can download the digital mark sheet and, if needed, get it stamped by their school principal for university admission purposes. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed universities and colleges to accept digital mark sheets and passing certificates. Institutions cannot deny admission to students solely because they have only the digital copies issued through DigiLocker.
