Yesterday’s big news was related to plastic notes. The government has approved field trials of polymer bank notes of Rs 10 and Rs 20. 100-100 crore polymer i.e. plastic notes of both will be issued.

1. Approval of plastic notes of Rs 10 and Rs 20: Finance Minister said – 100-100 crore notes of both will be printed in trial, they will last for 30 years.

The government has approved field trials of polymer bank notes of Rs 10 and Rs 20. 100-100 crore polymer i.e. plastic notes of both will be issued. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave this information in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

RBI had proposed field trials of Rs 100 crore each of polymer notes of Rs 10 and Rs 20. After the successful trial, polymer notes of both will be issued regularly.

2. Resignation of Vijay Singh from SRTT, the main trust of Tata Group: Tenure ending on August 14; Sir Dorabji will remain in Tata Trust

Vijay Singh, vice chairman of Sir Ratan Tata Trust or SRTT, one of the two main trusts that control Tata Sons, the holding company of Tata Group, has resigned. The current tenure of former Defense Secretary Vijay Singh is ending on August 14 and he has decided not to seek the next term.

However, he will continue to hold the post of trustee in Sir Dorabji Tata Trust i.e. SDTT, the second main trust of Tata Group. Tata Trusts- SRTT and SDTT hold approximately 66% stake in Tata Sons.

3. Loss of retail investors in F&O trading reduced to ₹91,685 crore: Impact of SEBI’s strict rules; Average loss per investor increased to ₹1.16 lakh

The total loss suffered by retail investors in the equity derivatives i.e. F&O segment of the Indian stock market has come down to Rs 91,685 crore in the financial year 2025-26. This figure was Rs 1.12 lakh crore in the financial year 2024-25.

The Finance Ministry has given this important information to the Parliament on August 11. This decline in losses of retail investors has been recorded after several stringent and new steps taken by the market regulator SEBI to reduce the risks in the F&O segment.

4. Adani’s case rejected by US court: It was filed 2 years ago; There were allegations of bribing Indian officials and defrauding American investors.

The US court on Monday dismissed the ongoing bribery and fraud case against Gautam Adani. Judge Nicholas Garoufis of the US District Court in Brooklyn accepted the US Justice Department’s demand to end the case.

Gautam Adani was accused of agreeing to bribe Indian government officials in 2024. It was also said that an attempt was made to get the contract of solar energy plant to an Adani Group company through bribery. Adani Group had consistently rejected these allegations.
