The Andhra Pradesh government has declared holidays on November 4 and 5 for educational institutions and government offices being used as polling stations for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) elections.

Polling for the remaining MPTC and ZPTC seats in the state is scheduled to take place on November 5. Authorities will take control of the designated school and college buildings on November 4 to distribute election materials and make arrangements for polling.

The holiday will also apply to teachers and staff assigned election duties. However, the order does not cover all educational institutions across Andhra Pradesh. Schools and colleges that are not being used as polling stations will continue to function normally.

Separate Holiday on November 7 for Counting Centres

Vote counting for the elections is scheduled for November 7. Educational institutions designated as counting centres will also remain closed on that day.

Students and parents have been advised to contact their respective school or college administrations to confirm whether their institutions will observe the holidays.

Meanwhile, school students across India can expect several holidays in November 2026 as festivals and regional observances fall throughout the month.

Diwali will be celebrated on November 8, followed by Govardhan Puja on November 9 and Bhaiya Dooj on November 11. Chhath Puja falls on November 15, while November 24 marks Guru Nanak Jayanti, Kartik Purnima and Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom anniversary.

Some states may also observe regional holidays, including Veerangna Uda Devi Martyrdom Day in Uttar Pradesh on November 16. However, school holidays and vacation periods will vary depending on state calendars and local announcements.

Schools in Maharashtra will have a 13-day Diwali vacation from November 2 to 14, 2026, as per the state education department’s holiday calendar. Since November 15 falls on a Sunday, students are expected to resume classes on November 16.

In Rajasthan, schools are expected to remain closed for Diwali from November 4 to 15. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh schools are likely to observe a five-day break from November 6 to 10.
