The Centre has summoned West Bengal’s top bureaucratic and police officials to New Delhi for a high-level review of infiltration and border security issues ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s proposed visit to the state later this week.

Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan will chair the meeting on June 9, where West Bengal Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar are expected to participate. According to sources, the discussions will focus on infiltration concerns, border fencing projects and measures to strengthen security in districts located along the international border.

The meeting assumes significance as it comes just days before Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to West Bengal on June 13 and 14, during which he is expected to review multiple issues related to law and order, border management and development in North Bengal.
