Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu lead Indian shuttlers at Indonesia Masters Super 500, aiming to bounce back after a disappointing India Open performance.

Several Indian shuttlers, notably Lakshya Sen and PV Sindhu, will be in action when the Indonesia Masters Super 500 gets underway at the Istora Senayan on Tuesday, with the players looking to put up a better show after the poor outing at the India Open last week.
At the home tournament, the Indian shuttlers put up their worst performance in three years, with none of the players being able to qualify for the semifinals. Lakshya was the only one to play a quarterfinal, but eventually lost in a three-game thriller to eventual champion Lin Chun Yi.
At the Indonesia Masters, the men’s singles features Kidambi Srikanth, Tharun Mannepalli, Lakshya (seeded seventh), HS Prannoy and Ayush Shetty. The former will take on Japan’s Koki Watanabe, with the Indian having won their only encounter back in 2021.
A win will seemingly pit Srikanth against top seed Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Mannepalli will begin his campaign against Japan’s Yushi Tanaka and Lakshya will face Singapore’s Jia Heng Jason Teh, whom he has beaten five times on tour, with the last win coming at the Malaysia Open earlier this month.
A win will seemingly pit Lakshya against compatriot Prannoy, who will take on Lee Zii Jia in the opening round, whom he has beaten twice in three encounters, although the last encounter was at the 2022 Asian Games.
Ayush will face third-seed Jonatan Christie.
In women’s singles, Unnati Hooda, Sindhu (seeded fifth), Tanvi Sharma and Malvika Bansod are in the fray. The former will take on top seed Chen Yu Fei, while Sindhu will face Japan’s Manami Suizu, whom she beat at the India Open last year.
Tanvi will take on fourth seed Tomoka Miyazaki, while Malvika will face sixth seed Michelle Li, who has beaten her twice, with their last encounter being the Swiss Open in 2025.
In men’s doubles, Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun will take on a qualifier.
In mixed doubles, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani Gadde will face top seeds Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping. Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto will take on France’s Julien Maio and Lea Palermo, whom they beat at the Malaysia Masters last year.
A win will seemingly pit Dhruv-Tanisha against Feng-Huang or Rohan-Ruthvika.
