Singer Adnan Sami has addressed the criticism he faced online after posting pictures with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, saying he refuses to let public opinion dictate his personal choices. The singer, who was heavily trolled on social media following the meeting, stated that he is answerable only to God and does not care about how strangers perceive him online.
Speaking to News18Adnan reflected on the backlash and the culture of instant judgment on social media, saying many people form opinions about him without actually knowing who he is.
“I am a free soul and, thankfully, I have lost all my filters also, so I do what I feel like, and I am not answerable to anybody but God. If somebody is nice to me, I will be nice to them no matter who they are. I will never judge anyone on the basis of someone else’s opinion. Certainly, I won’t judge anybody if I don’t know anything about them,” the singer said, adding that he doesn’t “give a s**t about what anybody thinks.”
According to Adnan, social media has created an environment where people quickly make assumptions based on fragments of information, often without context or understanding.
Adnan further said that many people believe they know him based on a superficial and often false impression formed through a single photograph or song. He stated that those passing judgment without truly knowing him were living in a “fantasy land.”
The singer added that he feels mentally liberated to do whatever he wants and has set clear boundaries for others, while also claiming that most trolls are not genuine fans but people who simply exist to criticise online.
The controversy erupted in February after Adnan shared photos from his interaction with Mohan Bhagwat on Instagram.
Alongside the pictures, the singer wrote, “Had an incredible afternoon with the legendary Sarsanghchalak (Chief) of RSS, Sri Mohan Bhagwat ji. It was delightful to hear him speak and there were so many myths & misconceptions that he so eloquently explained & cleared. An incredible gentleman & beautiful soul (sic).”
