The monsoon knocked in the northeastern states of the country on 29 May, since then 5 days have passed and the monsoon is stuck there. Due to this, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim are raining heavily.
More than 5.35 lakh people from 1254 villages in 22 districts in Assam are affected. So far 11 people have died in flood -landslide. 15 rivers are in spate. Road, rail and boat service are affected. 31212 people have been held in a total of 165 relief camps.
1678 tourists were rescued due to landslide in Locheng-Chungthang towns of Northern Sikkim. More than 100 are still stranded here. The floods in Mangan district have been declared a disaster. On the evening of May 31, there was a landslide at the military camp in Chhane in the district. 3 soldiers died in the incident. The search for 6 missing soldiers continues.
19811 people are affected by floods in Sikkim. 3365 houses are damaged. In the last 4 days, 47 incidents of landslide occurred in the state. 31 relief camps have been opened in the state, most of the Imphal are in the eastern district.
The flood situation in Tripura has improved. The rivers here are flowing below the danger mark. 66 relief camps have been opened in flood affected districts of the state, more than 10800 people are present for 2926 families. Western Tripura district has the highest number of 50 relief camps. 219 houses in the state have been affected by floods. Orange alert continues in 5 districts of the state today.
The Air Force conducted a rescue operation in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. The lower valley of the state rescued 14 persons stranded in the Bomjir River in Dibang. According to the Air Force, rescue operation is being conducted by MI-17 helicopter in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. People are being evacuated from flood -affected areas.
