The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the registration deadline for the Single Girl Child Scholarship until February 8, 2025. Eligible students can apply for both, new scholarships and renewals, on the official website, cbse.gov.in. Schools can verify the applications until February 15, 2025.

Previously, the deadline was extended to January 10. Under this scheme, girl students who are the only child of their parents and have passed the Class 10 exam with at least 70% marks are awarded Rs 1000 per month. The scholarship is provided for up to two years.

CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded based on merit, as determined by the CBSE Class X Examination results. The following criteria apply:

Single-girl students who have secured 70% or more marks in the CBSE Class X Examination and are currently studying in Class XI or XII at a CBSE-affiliated school are eligible.

The tuition fee for these students must not exceed:

Rs. 2,500 per month during the academic year for Classes XI and XII.

Rs. 3,000 per month for Classes XI and XII.

NRI applicants are also eligible for the scholarship, with a maximum allowed tuition fee of Rs. 6,000 per month.

The scholarship is open only to Indian nationals.

The student must continue their studies in Class XI and XII at a CBSE-affiliated school as mentioned in point 1.

Only students who have passed the CBSE Class X Examination in 2024 are eligible.

Other benefits: A scholar can enjoy additional concessions offered by the school or other organizations while receiving this scholarship.

Students from families with a gross annual income of up to Rs. 8 lakh are eligible for the scholarship.

The scholarship will be renewed for one year upon successful completion of Class 11. Renewal is contingent on the student’s promotion to the next class and maintaining a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

If a scholar switches courses, changes schools, or discontinues their current course of study before completion, the renewal of the scholarship will require prior approval from the board. Continuation of the scholarship also depends on the student’s good conduct and regular attendance.
