In this poll named Awesome in Australia, 16 performances were shortlisted and 13 lakh people voted. Rahul Dravid’s innings of 233 and 72 runs in Adelaide Test got the highest 61.5% votes. Dravid surpassed Pant’s innings of 89 runs, which was the highest score by the wicket-keeper batsman at the Gabba in 2021.

This poll has been done before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. This series of 5 test matches will start from November 22 in Perth. The last Test will be played in Sydney from 3 January.

Ponting’s double century in Adelaide, Dravid replied

In the Adelaide Test, Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bat. He had scored 242 runs. Thanks to this inning, Australia scored 556 runs. India scored 523 runs in the first innings. Dravid scored 233 runs and VVS Laxman scored 148 runs. There was a partnership of 303 runs between the two.

Australia was all out for 196 runs in the second innings. Dravid scored unbeaten 72 runs in the second innings and India chased the target of 230.

ESPN spoke to Rahul Dravid after the poll. Rahul Dravid said, “When the Indian team came to bat in response to Australia’s 556 runs in the first innings, when 4 wickets had fallen for 85 runs, I had the captain (Sourav Ganguly) run out. I believe that when When you bat, you think of building partnerships.

The special thing between me and Laxman was that we had made many big partnerships before this. We did this in Kolkata 2001. The wicket was good for batting. When the ball became a little older, runs started being scored faster. Laxman is a great player. He was giving me a compliment. Because of which I was able to play big innings.”

Dravid and Laxman have scored more than 4065 runs while playing 86 Tests together for India. In this match, both of them made a partnership of 303 runs.

2. Rishabh’s innings in Gaba was more important

Dravid, known as The Wall in the cricket world, said, “Rishabh Pant’s innings played at Gabba helped the Indian team win the series in Australia for the second consecutive time. I am lucky that people liked my innings, but the way The Indian team has defeated Australia in the last two series, so Pant’s innings is more important. No matter how well we all played together, we were never able to win the series till then.
