American-Canadian singer Neil Young on Monday joined Donald Trump’s political action committee Trump 47 Committee Inc. But a lawsuit has been filed for 10 million dollars i.e. approximately Rs 95.10 crore in Indian rupees. The lawsuit filed in the US state of Virginia alleges that the committee played Trump’s song ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’ when he took the stage at a midterm election rally in Youngstown, Ohio on October 12. Young says that a license was necessary to use this song. He neither gave such a license to the committee nor expressed his desire to give it. This is Young’s second legal challenge against Trump over the unauthorized use of the same song. Young had earlier sued Trump in 2020, which was later resolved through settlement. The new lawsuit alleges that Trump started playing the song again in violation of the terms of the agreement. Neil Young’s stand regarding the song said in the lawsuit that this 1989 song shows the difference between the empty promises of American political statements and the difficult lives of the poor, homeless and forgotten people. According to the lawsuit, the lyrics of the song paint a picture of the troubles seen on the road. These include a mother abandoning her child, drug addicts lost in despair, and garbage accumulating in the shadow of prosperity. The lawsuit says the recurring chorus represents the bitter irony of celebrating a freedom that clearly hasn’t been enjoyed by all. “In short, this song is the exact opposite of everything Donald Trump represents,” the lawsuit said. It was said here that Trump knew that Young had not given such a license nor was he going to give it. Young began his career in the 1960s. Young was born on November 12, 1945 in Toronto.
