Screen cracked after opening the phone a few times?
One of the complaints of screen breakage is from a user in Australia. According to the report of MacRumors, the user said that after about six hours of getting the phone, he had opened it less than 20 times.
While opening the phone, he felt something stuck near the hinge i.e. the part that folds the screen. After this a sound came and a crack started appearing on the inner screen.

The user claimed that there was no visible damage on the surface of the screen or the exterior of the phone. He went to the Apple Store and complained and according to the report, his phone was replaced.
Some other users also reported seeing a crack or a shiny line near the middle part of the screen. In many photographs the damage was seen at almost the same place. This has raised questions about the design of the hinge and the parts present inside it.
Why is the screen breaking? What did iFixit say?
Phone repair and testing company iFixit opened the iPhone Duo and examined its internal parts. During investigation, several parts were found around the hinge, whose position could affect the pressure exerted on the screen.
According to iFixit, one possibility is that the middle support bar inside the hinge may not retract properly when the phone is folded. In such a situation, there may be more pressure on a small part of the screen. If pressure accumulates at one place, the risk of damage there may increase.
But this is still a possible reason, not a confirmed one. Apple has not given any detailed response to this theory of iFixit. Only the company’s investigation will clarify what is the real reason behind the screen breaking.
Can dust also become a problem?
Amidst the complaints of screen breakage, the issue of dust getting into the hinge has also come to light. JerryRigEverything’s durability test and iFixit’s test found some dust inside the phone’s hinge. After this a strange sound started coming from the hinge.
