Jantar Mantar Protest Live Updates: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced another protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar today, vowing to continue its demonstrations over alleged electoral roll irregularities until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns.
The fresh protest comes a day after around 3,000 people were detained across Delhi as police moved to stop the CJP’s call for a gathering at Jantar Mantar to demand Kumar’s resignation. Among those detained were four former chief ministers: AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal, Trinamool Congress founder Mamata Banerjee, and the Left’s Pinarayi Vijayan and Manik Sarkar.
While most detainees were released by night, the CJP’s top leadership, Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, along with YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, remained in custody.
Police have denied permission for the protest, with authorities taking several measures to maintain law and order.
