An IndiGo flight operating from Delhi to Chennai was diverted to Hyderabad on Sunday, October 11, after smoke was detected coming from a passenger’s personal electronic device kept onboard the aircraft.

The flight landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, the airline said in a statement.

IndiGo confirmed that flight 6E 6115, which was scheduled to operate from Delhi to Chennai, was diverted after the incident involving the electronic device. The airline said the cabin crew acted promptly to bring the situation under control.

Flight Diverted After Smoke Detected From Electronic Device

According to IndiGo, smoke was detected from a customer’s personal electronic device during the flight. Following the incident, the aircraft was diverted to Hyderabad as the situation was brought under control by the cabin crew.

In its statement, the airline said, “IndiGo flight 6E 6115, operating from Delhi to Chennai on October 11, 2026, was diverted to Hyderabad after smoke was detected from a customer’s personal electronic device.”

The airline added that the cabin crew responded promptly and managed the situation. The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

Alternate Aircraft Being Arranged For Passengers

Following the safe landing, IndiGo said arrangements were being made for an alternate aircraft to take passengers to their intended destination, Chennai.

The diversion resulted in an interruption to the flight’s scheduled journey. The airline said it was making efforts to minimise the inconvenience caused to passengers while arrangements for the onward journey were being worked out.

IndiGo also said it was providing refreshments to passengers and sharing timely updates about the situation.

“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this unforeseen situation and are making all efforts to minimise it, including offering refreshments and sharing timely updates,” the airline said.

The flight was diverted after smoke was detected from the electronic device, while the aircraft landed safely in Hyderabad. IndiGo said it was working to ensure that passengers could continue their journey to Chennai on an alternate aircraft.
