The registration process for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 is set to close today, September 22, 2026. Candidates who have not yet completed their applications can register until 5 pm today through the official CAT website, iimcat.ac.in.

IIM Indore, the institute conducting CAT 2026, had initially scheduled September 15 as the last date for registration. The deadline was later extended to September 22, providing candidates with additional time to submit their applications. The institute has made it clear that the revised deadline will not be extended further.

CAT is a national-level entrance examination used for admission to management programmes at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and several other participating business schools.

Candidates who successfully submit their CAT 2026 applications will get an opportunity to make corrections after the registration window closes. The edit window will allow candidates to modify specific details, including their photograph, signature and preferred test city. Other information submitted in the application form will not be available for modification during this period.

As per the schedule announced by the exam authority, CAT 2026 will be conducted on November 29, 2026. The examination will be held in three sessions at designated test centres across 170 cities in India. The test will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. Candidates who complete the registration process will be able to download their admit cards from November 4, 2026.

CAT 2026 Exam Pattern

The CAT 2026 question paper will consist of three sections. The examination will have a total duration of 120 minutes, with candidates allotted 40 minutes for each section.

The three sections are:

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC): 24 questions

Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR): 22 questions

Quantitative Aptitude (QA): 22 questions

Together, the three sections will have 68 questions carrying a maximum of 204 marks.

The CAT question paper will include both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and Type In The Answer (TITA) questions. Candidates will receive three marks for every correct answer. An incorrect MCQ response will result in one mark deduction, while incorrect TITA responses will not attract negative marking. No marks will be awarded for questions left unanswered.
