Shreyas Iyer will be the captain of the Indian men’s team in the Asian Games.
The timing of some men’s knockout matches in the Asian Games 2026 has been changed. These matches will now start 30 minutes before the scheduled time. Because of this, India’s quarterfinal match will start at 10 am instead of 10:30 am. There has been no change in the timing of the women’s team matches.
The Asian Games will be played in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from September 9 to October 4. According to local time, this match of India was to start at 2 pm. This decision has been taken due to early darkness in Japan and lack of arrangement for flood lights.
India’s quarterfinal match on September
India has got a direct place in the quarter-finals in the games to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The Indian men’s team will play the tournament under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, while the women’s team will be commanded by Harmanpreet Kaur.
No change in morning matches
There has been no change in the timings of the morning matches. These matches will start at 9 am Japan time. Its time in India will be 5:30 am.
The second semi-final and gold medal match will also start at 10 am Indian time. The second semi-final will be played on October 1 and the gold medal match on October 3. If India progresses in the tournament, it will play both the matches.
Pakistan’s first quarter-final, first semi-final and bronze medal match will start at 5:30 am.
Preliminary matches will be held on time
The preliminary round matches in the men’s category will also be held at the same time. This includes Afghanistan, Japan, Nepal, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Oman. These are divided into 2 groups.
