Shakti Kapoor was born on 3 September 1952 in Delhi. His real name is Sunil Sikandarlal Kapoor.

After marriage, Shivangi’s parents remained angry with her for many years. However, the bitterness between the two families ended after the birth of elder son Siddhant Kapoor and later daughter Shraddha Kapoor. Shivangi’s parents also completely accepted this relationship.

Shakti Kapoor’s wife Shivangi Kolhapure (elder sister of actress Padmini Kolhapure) is a relative (niece) of veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar.
