Real Madrid observed a minute’s silence in remembrance of all the victims of the devastating Nepal floods, which have killed 788 people so far, with thousands of others missing.
Real Madrid has expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal amidst the disaster, sharing the message, “Standing With Nepal”. Earlier, another Spanish giant, Barcelona, had paid tribute to the victims as well, observing a minute’s silence before a game two days ago in memory of those who lost their lives in the floods.
As Nepal continues to suffer significant loss of life and property from floods and landslides, multiple prominent football clubs worldwide have expressed solidarity with the nation.
Real Madrid had also conveyed its condolences after the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster.
More than 2,500 people remain missing, while almost 9,500 people were rescued, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
The disaster, triggered by a collapse or avalanche of ice and rock near the Nepal-Tibet border, according to reports, wreaked havoc across towns and villages in northern and central Nepal on Wednesday.
The Bhotekoshi River, flowing south from the Himalayan border region, carried the floodwaters downstream, washing away homes, vehicles, roads and bridges while also damaging hydropower projects.
Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe both found the net as Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to La Liga under Jose Mourinho with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Malaga on Sunday, August 30.
Los Blancos scored thrice in just over 10 minutes in the first half to open up a comfortable lead over the Andalusian visitors to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Sandwiched between Bellingham and Mbappe’s strikes was an own goal by Malaga goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero, while Arda Guler tapped in a fourth late on.
“I have got the freedom to go higher or lower if we need, I am enjoying myself a lot,” Bellingham told Real Madrid TV of his attacking midfield role under Mourinho.
