US Iran War News LIVE Updates: The US military on Saturday said it fired on and disabled a ship after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to breach the blockade on Iranian ports.
CENTCOM spokesperson Navy Captain Tim Hawkins said the ship was hit in its engine room and was no longer heading towards Iran, AFP reported.
The development came as US President Donald Trump said he had not yet decided on launching major strikes against Iran. Trump said Tehran was becoming “more serious” in talks with Washington, but warned that the US remained “locked and loaded” if negotiations failed.
Meanwhile, tensions spread across the region after Saudi Arabia launched strikes on Yemen’s Houthi-held Hodeida. The action followed a Houthi attack on a Saudi vessel and the group’s announcement of a maritime blockade against the kingdom.
