RSS chief said society must adapt to the changing mindset of young people by communicating with them instead of expecting blind compliance.

Amid the ongoing nationwide protests over the NEET paper leak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said the younger generation today seeks answers, stressing the need for dialogue, affection and meaningful engagement with them.
Addressing the concluding session of the Vishwa Mangalya Sabha’s National Enlightenment Meeting on “Contemporary Motherhood” at the Ambedkar International Centre in the national capital, Bhagwat said society must adapt to the changing mindset of young people by communicating with them instead of expecting blind compliance.
“When we were young, it was an era of obedience. That’s not the case anymore. The new generation asks questions. We have to explain the reasoning to them. We need to give them a lot of affection. We need to spend time with them. We need to communicate with them. Nowadays, conversation has stopped even within families,” the RSS chief said.
His remarks come at a time when thousands of students have been protesting over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment processes, with the NEET paper leak controversy triggering demands for reforms in the education system and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Speaking on the theme of motherhood, Bhagwat described it as the foundation of human civilisation, saying the creation, nurturing and continuity of life were impossible without mothers.
“The creation, nurturing and continuity of life are impossible without motherhood,” he said, adding that a mother is a child’s first teacher and remains the strongest source of emotional strength throughout life.
Parents Should Patiently Answer Children: Bhagwat
Bhagwat also said that while human beings possess the ability to think, it is mothers who guide that thinking in the right direction. He urged parents to patiently answer their children’s questions, continue expanding their own knowledge and lead by example, observing that children learn more through conduct than instruction.
The RSS chief also called for strengthening family life and reviving meaningful conversations within households, saying communication had diminished even among family members.

Cautioning against what he termed misconceptions about Indian culture and traditions, Bhagwat asserted that India’s civilisational foundations remain strong.
He said unity in diversity forms the essence of Indian culture and urged society to strengthen family values and social institutions while moving forward with confidence in the country’s cultural heritage, knowledge systems and history.
Bhagwat’s comments come amid continuing demonstrations by students across the country over the alleged paper leak scandal.
The Centre has announced a series of measures, including fast-track courts for paper leak cases and an overhaul of the National Testing Agency (NTA), even as protesters continue to press for systemic reforms and the resignation of the education minister.
