Data and analytics company Kantar and Dainik Bhaskar launched ‘Urban India – India’s Consumption Story’, the first report based on India’s emerging consumer markets. Harsh Goenka, Chairman, RPG Enterprises, launched the report.

This is the first report of its kind, which will help companies, brands and marketers understand India’s fast-growing consumer markets. The report has studied 50 cities except Mumbai and Delhi. In this, people’s purchasing demand, rising aspirations and increasing trend towards premium products have been analyzed.

Harsh Goenka said that till now there was a lack of reliable data on the consumer markets of Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. This report from trusted organizations like Kantar and Dainik Bhaskar will help businesses and marketers understand India’s changing consumer landscape.

Dainik Bhaskar Director Girish Aggarwal said – Companies will get recognition of new markets.

Girish Aggarwal, Promoter Director, Dainik Bhaskar Group, said – Consumption-driven economic growth in India is now increasingly coming from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. But till now there was no reliable study which could reveal the potential of these cities.

That’s why we, together with Kantar, have prepared the report ‘Urban India – India’s Consumption Story’. Dainik Bhaskar’s deep understanding of India and Kantar’s consumer survey have been added to this. This report will help companies and marketing people to identify new and fast-growing markets and make better strategies there.

He further said, the biggest feature of this report is the ‘Urban India City Opportunity Index’. This is a special framework, which identifies and ranks the emerging cities of the country on the basis of their development potential. With this, companies will be able to decide in which city to invest first, how to make their marketing strategy and how to find better opportunities in new markets.

Kantar’s director said – companies will know where the big opportunities are.

Biswapriya Bhattacharjee, Director (B2B and Technology), Kantar, said that this report shows how India’s emerging cities are developing rapidly. It also highlights where the biggest opportunities lie for companies amid premium products and rising aspirations.

6 important points of the report…

  • Study of 50 promising cities excluding Mumbai and Delhi.
  • Includes cities in Hindi speaking states, Maharashtra and Gujarat.
  • The population of these cities is about 149 million, which is about one-third of India’s urban population.
  • Analysis of changing consumption trends in 11 major sectors.
  • Ranking of cities with highest growth potential through Urban Bharat City Opportunity Index.
  • The report has been designed as a strategic guide for brands, marketers, companies and policy-makers.
