Pakistani forces opened fire on a peaceful protest rally of Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) on Sunday. According to ANI report, JAAC claimed that around 40 thousand people had gathered at the Sardar Ghulam Hussain Khan Sports Stadium in Abbaspur. The organization alleges that Pakistani security forces opened fire without provocation on people protesting peacefully in the AMB area of Dudial, in which many people were seriously injured. However, there is no official number of injured or any official response from the Pakistan administration. JAAC says that this demonstration is against the Islamabad government. Also, this movement is going on demanding the arrest of JAAC leaders and workers, administrative failures and basic rights. The organization has demanded the immediate release of the arrested leaders and workers. People arrived from many areas, also demonstrated abroad. According to the report, convoys of people from many different areas continued to reach the ongoing protest site in Dera Ismail Khan. Large participation of women, children and elderly people was also reported in the demonstration. JAAC said that the women of Rawalakot and Chak are also taking to the streets and leading the movement. The organization claims that the protesters did not back down despite pressure from the administration. At the same time, on the appeal of JAAC, the Kashmiri community living in Auckland, New Zealand also demonstrated. The protesters protested against the arrest of JAAC core committee member Shaukat Nawaz Mir and demanded his release. JAAC says that after the arrest of Shaukat Nawaz Mir, tension has increased in the entire PoJK. The organization launched a ‘Release Shaukat Mir’ campaign on social media, under which it appealed to people to join the movement. Slogans like ‘Long Live Kashmir’ and ‘Long Live the People’ were raised during the demonstration. The news is being updated continuously…
