A five-point agenda of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra meeting, which is scheduled to be held on July 6, has been unveiled. With the approval of the trust’s Chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri has convened an emergency meeting.

The meeting, scheduled to be held at Maniram Das Ji Ki Chhawani at 3:00 PM, comes amid a stir over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

What’s On Agenda?

Sources told CNN-News18 that the trust will discuss the resignation submitted by general secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra. They recently tendered their resignations in the face of mounting scrutiny over allegations linked to the donation theft at the temple.

An interim report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) –– which is carrying out the probe into the matter –– regarding the calculation and accounting of funds received through donations will be presented during the meeting.

Discussion on arrangements related to the future management of the temple will take place. Unaudited Income & Expenditure Statement, Balance Sheet, and other financial statements linked to the trust for the financial year 2025–26 will also be presented, sources said.

What Is The Controversy?

The controversy stems from allegations that valuable items offered by devotees at the Ram Temple were replaced with counterfeits, besides money being stolen. On June 25, police lodged an FIR based on a complaint by the Ram Temple trust and subsequently, eight men were arrested.

The arrested individuals are –– Avinash Shukla, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav and Subhash Srivastav.

An SIT probe is currently underway into the matter as investigators examine money trail, distribution of the stolen money among the accused, and the role of State Bank of India (SBI) –– where received donations were deposited.

On Friday, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) termed the episode “unfortunate” and appealed for Hindu unity. The organisation sounded alarm over what it called “conspiracies (by) anti-Hindu, anti-national forces” to exploit the incident and “malign Hinduism and society”.

In a video statement, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale noted the Ram Temple was built after the “struggles of generations” and the “sacrifices” made by crores of Ram devotees.
