According to ESPN’s Shams CharaniaMiami have acquired Giannis along with veteran forward Bobby Portis in a two-team deal that will officially be processed on July 6.

No additional teams are currently involved in the deal, although the trade cannot become official until July 6, leaving room for further modifications if both franchises choose to expand it.

End Of An Era In Milwaukee

For Milwaukee, the move marks the departure of the greatest player in franchise history.

Antetokounmpo leaves as the Bucks’ all-time leader in points (21,531), rebounds (8,882), assists (4,484), blocks (1,088), triple-doubles (56) and games played (895).

The two-time MVP transformed the franchise from a perennial struggler into an NBA champion and global powerhouse, delivering Milwaukee’s long-awaited title in 2021 and establishing himself as one of the defining players of his generation.

The Bucks understood the magnitude of moving a player of Giannis’ stature, which is why the asking price was always expected to be enormous.

Heat Win The Sweepstakes

Miami finally land the superstar they have been chasing.

The Heat viewed Giannis as the perfect cornerstone to lead their next championship push and were willing to sacrifice significant young talent and future draft assets to secure the deal.

The franchise now adds one of the league’s most dominant two-way players to its roster and instantly becomes one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA.

Celtics Miss Out

The race for Antetokounmpo reportedly came down to Miami and Boston.

According to Shams, the Celtics offered a package centered around Jaylen Brown and two first-round picks. However, Milwaukee ultimately preferred Miami’s combination of draft capital, promising young players and roster flexibility.

Now the Giannis sweepstakes are over.
