RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat rejected the demand for registration of the Sangh, saying that the organization is neither secret nor works away from the public eye.

During the centenary year program of the Sangh in Thrissur, Kerala, Bhagwat said – many such things are going on which are not registered. The organization has nothing to hide. We work in open fields. Call people and tell them what we do.

On the question of registration of the association, he said that those who want funds from the government, they need registration. He must be there. But the government knows that the union exists.

Actually, Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge had written a letter to Mohan Bhagwat on the completion of 100 years of RSS. Kharge had asked – tell the account of 100 years. Make public full details of legal status, funding and expenses.

What else did Bhagwat say, 5 points…

  • The government banned us twice. A ban was imposed by court order. The second was removed after Satyagraha. This means that the government knew that RSS existed.
  • The organization submitted its written constitution to the government in 1950 and no official ever insisted on registration before gaining recognition.
  • More than 100 years have passed. No one told us that you have to register. Hinduism is not registered. Many things are not registered.
  • Our workers live in every area. People see them every day. Our reach is very wide. If we kept things hidden, none of this would be possible
  • On the one hand, in some way or the other, they want to hinder the work of the Sangh and create doubt in the minds of people. But now it is not possible to do this because people know us.

Kharge had asked- RSS should give account of 100 years

He argued that the organization should maintain transparency and constitutional accountability. In a letter written on June 13, Priyank questioned that when citizens, labor organizations, NGOs, trusts, temples and companies are expected to follow the law, register and provide information, then why should the RSS be exempted from this.
