Since the death of Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband Sanjay Kapoor, a legal battle over property and will is going on between his children and his wife Priya Sachdev. Till the decision comes, the court has frozen Sanjay Kapoor’s property. At the time of hearing of the case, Karisma Kapoor’s children had claimed that they did not even have money to pay school-college fees. On this, Sanjay Kapoor’s wife Priya Kapoor has filed a petition seeking permission to withdraw money from her husband’s EPF account. Now the court has issued notice to other parties in the matter and sought their response. Priya Kapoor’s petition was heard on May 26, seeking partial modification of the April 30 order by the Coordinate Bench to freeze all the accounts of Sanjay Kapoor. According to the documents submitted in the court, Priya Kapoor has requested to make changes in clauses B and D of Article 79 of the interim order. According to the report of Live & Law, Priya Kapoor’s lawyer has made it clear in the court that the money withdrawn from EPF will be used only to meet the education expenses of Karisma Kapoor’s children Kiaan and Samaira. Karisma Kapoor’s children Kiyan and Samaira had filed a petition in the court seeking a share in the will and property of their father Sanjay Kapoor. Then Priya Kapoor showed a will in the court, in which nothing special was written in the names of Kiyan and Adaira. Then the children declared the will to be fake because of their father’s writing and the children’s names were repeatedly written wrongly. While hearing the case, in the hearing held on April 30, the Supreme Court had frozen Sanjay Kapoor’s property and accounts. The court imposed a temporary ban on these things on Priya Kapoor – although in the hearing, exemption was given for children’s education and conditions of divorce. Now in the new petition, Priya Kapoor is demanding amendment in the court order, hence the court has issued a notice to all the people associated with the case and sought their consent. The next hearing of this case will now be in July. Why does Priya want to pay the fees of Karisma’s children? Actually, when Karisma Kapoor took divorce from Sanjay Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor had taken the responsibility of the children’s education expenses in writing. After his death, his wife Priya claimed rights over all his accounts, after which the responsibility of Karishma’s children also fell on her. Karishma’s children have filed a petition against Priya for the will, yet the responsibility of their expenses remains on Priya. During a hearing, Karishma’s daughter Samaira told the court that her college fees had not been paid for the last 2 months. She studies in America. Then the court had reprimanded both the parties on this matter. Then Priya’s lawyer had said that he would pay the children’s fees on time. But due to account freezing, they are now facing difficulty in paying the fees. Sanjay Kapoor died in June 2015. Sanjay Kapoor died of a heart attack on 12 June 2025 in London. Karisma Kapoor married Sanjay in 2003. From this they had two children Kiyan-Samaira. After 13 years of marriage, Karishma-Sanjay got divorced with mutual consent. After this Sanjay married Priya Sachdev for the third time. Before Karishma, he had first married Nandita Mahtani, but that too broke up.
