The Supreme Court on Friday said that threatening to post a video of a woman taking bath or changing clothes on social media is a serious offense of criminal intimidation. While upholding the conviction of an accused, the court said that doing so is a violation of a woman’s dignity and privacy.
In the case, the woman had alleged that the accused had a relationship on the pretext of marriage and later threatened to make her private video viral. The court said that even if the mobile phone or video is not recovered, punishment can be given on the basis of other strong evidence.

Jammu and Kashmir- Security forces started search operation in the forests of Poonch.
Security forces started a massive search operation in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. This operation was conducted by a joint team of Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the forests adjoining the border.
According to officials, this action is being taken to strengthen security preparations and increase surveillance in the area. Many forest areas of Mendhar sector have been covered in the operation.
Admit cards will be sent to UPSC candidates by email.
UPSC has taken a big decision for the convenience of the candidates of Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026. Candidates who have not yet downloaded their admit card will be sent e-admit cards through email.
UPSC has asked the candidates to check their registered emails and spam folders. About 8.19 lakh applications have been received for this examination to be held on May 24.
Fraud of Rs 1.19 crore in the name of online trading in Kerala, one accused arrested
In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, a person was defrauded of Rs 1.19 crore in the name of online share trading. The accused won trust through social media and WhatsApp groups by posing as officials of a British investment company. Later, the victim was asked to deposit money in different bank accounts.
After police investigation, 47 year old Ramesh, resident of Palakkad, was arrested. Mobile, electronic goods and fake documents have been recovered from him. Police have advised people to invest only through SEBI registered brokers.
