CapCut partners with Google, image and video editing tools coming to Gemini app soon

Google’s AI assistant ecosystem is set to gain another creative integration. Video and image editing platform CapCut has announced a partnership with Gemini that will allow users to edit photos and videos directly inside the Gemini app using CapCut’s editing tools.

The announcement was made by CapCut through a post on X (formerly Twitter), where the company said users will “soon” be able to access its creative and editing capabilities within Gemini.

According to CapCut, the partnership aims to make content creation more conversational and seamless by integrating editing workflows into AI-powered experiences. While details remain limited, the integration could allow Gemini users to generate, modify, or enhance images and videos using CapCut’s existing editing suite without leaving the AI assistant app.

CapCut already offers several AI-powered editing features, including AI image generation, automatic video editing, templates, and visual effects. Over the past year, the platform has increasingly focused on AI-assisted creative tools as competition in the editing space continues to grow.

The company also hinted that this partnership is only the beginning, suggesting deeper integrations could arrive in the future.

Google and CapCut have partnered before

This is not the first collaboration between Google and CapCut. In late 2025, Google Photos introduced an “Edit with CapCut” shortcut inside its yearly photo recap feature. The tool allowed users to directly export photos into CapCut using special Google Photos templates.

The new Gemini partnership appears to expand that relationship further, this time bringing editing features closer to Google’s AI ecosystem.

At the moment, neither Google nor CapCut has confirmed a release date for the integration. It also remains unclear whether users will need active subscriptions for CapCut or Gemini to access advanced editing tools.

The move puts Gemini closer to creative AI platforms that are increasingly combining editing and generative AI tools into a single workflow. It may also position Google more directly against AI-focused creative apps and editing services already experimenting with conversational content creation.
