The economic role of women in the country is not limited only to the family. SBI’s research report has revealed that the quality of employment in female headed families is improving rapidly. When the woman heads the household, the family’s dependence shifts from insecure daily wage labor to respectable regular wage jobs. The probability of regular employment among such women has increased by 4.4%, while the dependence on daily wage labor has decreased by 4.2%. This is a sign that women are moving towards protected employment. According to the report, the possibility of self-employment has increased among women taking government training. If training and employment schemes are expanded then women can get better employment. Here the employment of women in transport is more than that of men. The most interesting change in the report was seen in the transport sector. Here the share of women in regular salary jobs was found to be more than that of men. The increasing presence of women in this field, which was considered male-dominated for a long time, is being considered a sign of new employment trends. On the other hand, the share of women in regular jobs in mining and industrial sectors still remains very low.
