Two Indian journalists have once again strengthened their identity at the international level. Anand RK and Suparna Sharma have won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for groundbreaking investigative reporting exposing cyber crime. He was given this honor along with Natalie Obiko Pearson in the Illustrated Reporting and Commentary category. Known as the ‘Nobel of Journalism’, he received this award for the special report ‘Trapped’ prepared for Bloomberg. Anand is an illustrator and visual artist living in Mumbai. He also won the Eisner Award for ‘Best Painter/Multimedia Artist’ with colorist John Pearson for the graphic novel ‘Blue in Green’ published by Image Comics in 2021. Sir J.J. Anand, a School of Art graduate, has illustrated works like Dark Horse Comics’ ‘Graffiti Wall’, Vault’s ‘Radio Apocalypse’ and DC Comics’ ‘Resurrection Man’. He used Boom! Studios, 2000 AD, Tiny Onion and Image Comics. He has also worked with clients like Hyundai, Indian Navy, Imagine-FX Magazine and Heavy Metal Magazine. Suparna has exposed the negligence in the care center. Suparna is a freelance investigative journalist and editor. He has three decades of experience in reporting on crime, conflict, disasters and corruption. In 2023, his investigation into a massive fire at a care facility in Delhi for Al Jazeera exposed negligence in the elderly care sector and alleged attempts to suppress the truth. Anirudh of Indian origin also a winner. Indian-origin journalist Anirudh Ghoshal, living in Hanoi, won the Pulitzer in the International Reporting category. Anirudh, associated with the Associated Press (AP), reported on surveillance equipment developed by the US Border Patrol in Silicon Valley and China. At the same time, Devjyot, an Indian-origin journalist from Bangkok who exposed the cyber crime and human trafficking nexus in South-East Asia, was a finalist.
