US-Israel-Iran War Ceasefire News LIVE Updates: The Trump administration is asserting that the war with Iran has effectively ended following a ceasefire that began in early April—an interpretation that could allow the White House to bypass seeking approval from Congress.
“There has been no exchange of fire between United States Forces and Iran since April 7, 2026. The hostilities that began on February 28, 2026, have terminated,” President Donald Trump wrote in letters to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate president pro tempore Chuck Grassley.
Despite the ceasefire—now extended—Iran continues to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz, while the US Navy is enforcing a blockade to prevent Iranian oil tankers from reaching open waters.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, the health ministry reported that 12 people were killed on Friday in Israeli airstrikes in the south, including in a town where Israel’s military had issued an evacuation order despite an existing ceasefire. The strikes in Habboush—where the evacuation warning had been issued—killed eight people and injured 21 others. Separate strikes in Zrariyeh left four people dead and four more wounded, according to the ministry.
