At least three laborers died and one was rescued after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Jammu’s Bantlab area. Rescue operations were started immediately after the incident. Speaking to ANI, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday expressed grief over the loss of lives and property and said that four workers were trapped in the collapse, of whom three died while one was rescued safely. He further said that action has been initiated against the concerned officials and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Choudhary further said – Two officers have been suspended and one has been attached. An inquiry has been ordered and the contractor will be blacklisted. He has also been Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Department of Science and Technology. 44 peacocks have died in Karnataka, confirmed to be due to H5N1 bird flu. 44 peacocks have been confirmed to have died due to H5N1 bird flu in Tumkuru district of Karnataka. As a precautionary measure, the administration has declared an area of 10 kilometers as containment zone.
