Seeing it falling, the employees and laborers engaged in road restoration in Karthanaala of Satrundi on the Bairagarh-Sachpass-Killad road ran to save their lives. Let us tell you that due to heavy snowfall in the area recently, the road was closed for traffic. Therefore, workers and employees of the Public Works Department were busy in restoring the road. During this time the glacier suddenly broke and started flowing towards the road like a river of ice. According to the information, the employees and laborers engaged in road restoration started running here and there as soon as they heard the sounds of the glacier falling from the hill. If there is any delay, a major accident can occur. It is being told that it took 50 to 70 seconds to reach the road from the point where the glacier broke, in this time the employees themselves managed to escape. However, some machinery is reported to have suffered minor damage in the incident. After this the road restoration has been stopped. The road is closed for three to four months every year. This road connecting the extremely inaccessible area Pangi and Chamba is closed for all types of vehicles since December. These days, PWD machinery and laborers are busy removing snow. This road is closed every year in winter for three to four months due to heavy snowfall. But there remains a danger of glacier collapse in the area.
