Hearing on ED’s petition in I-PAC Raid case was held in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The court also termed CM Mamata Banerjee’s interference in the investigation being conducted by the Central Agency as wrong. The court said that whatever the CM of any state does, it puts democracy in danger. Justice Kumar said- This is not a dispute between the state and the centre. In fact, on January 8 this year, the ED team had raided the house and office of I-PAC head Prateek Jain at Gulaudan Street in Kolkata. It is Prateek Jain who prepares the political strategy for Mamata Banerjee. Amidst the raid, Mamta had reached Prateek’s house and left with some documents. ED petitioned the Supreme Court accusing Mamata Banerjee and state police officials of obstructing the investigation. The office of I-PAC, which made Mamata’s election strategy, is closed. CBI had registered an FIR in this case on 27 November 2020. The entire case is related to money laundering of ₹2,742 crore. It is alleged that ₹20 crore was transferred to I-PAC through Hawala.
