UAE Cracks Down On ‘Terror’, Says Iranian Group Planning Sabotage Acts Dismantled

The United Arab Emirates has cracked down on alleged Iranian-backed terrorism, announcing the arrest of 27 individuals, including two clerics, linked to a group dubbed as the “Secret Shiite Terrorist Organization.”

This operation comes amid escalating US-Israel-Iran conflicts, including recent ship seizures and ceasefire talks. UAE State Security released a video showing the arrests, highlighting the group’s alleged plans for sabotage acts.

The State Security Agency dismantled the network, which was involved in “covert activities aimed at carrying out coordinated terrorist and sabotage operations within the UAE.”

Investigations revealed the suspects adopted “extremist terrorist ideologies” tied to Iran’s Wilayat al-Faqih doctrine, conducting “recruitment and indoctrination operations through secret meetings” with external entities to infiltrate sensitive positions.

Authorities accused them of spreading false information among Emirati youth, recruiting for foreign interests, raising funds unofficially, and pledging loyalty to overseas groups, all harming national unity.

The group allegedly operated under commercial covers, similar to prior networks funded by Iran and Hezbollah that laundered money to threaten financial stability. “Any attempt to exploit the national economy… for terrorist or subversive purposes would be met with firmness,” the agency affirmed.

This follows arrests across Gulf states. Qatar recently detained 10 persons in an alleged IRGC espionage plot targeting military sites with drones. Kuwait and Bahrain have foiled similar IRGC-linked schemes in recent weeks, including spying charges. Bahrain arrested four for IRGC ties as Gulf attacks intensified.
