Actress and MP Kangana Ranaut has praised the ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise. He said that this film has breathed new life into the Indian film industry. According to Kangana, Bollywood was being cut off from the audience for some time, but this Ranveer Singh starrer film has pulled people back to the theatres. This franchise has now become the first Indian film series to cross the Rs 3,000 crore mark. The distance between Bollywood and the audience was closing. While talking to ANI, Kangana said that the Hindi film industry was gradually moving away from the culture and stories of the country. He said, “The industry was kind of getting cut off from the country. Audience participation had gone down and people were not wanting to watch films. That’s why South Indian films got more recognition because they were focusing on their culture and local stories.” Kangana believes that films like ‘Dhurandhar’ have shown their own stories to the audience. Mentioning R Madhavan and Ajit Doval, Kangana especially praised R Madhavan’s work in the film. His character in the film is said to be inspired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Kangana said, Madhavan has done a wonderful job. I have met Ajit Doval ji, he has a great personality. I feel that a completely separate film should be made on Doval ji, only then complete justice will be done to his character. Still Madhavan came very close to him, he is a very good actor. Historical record of Rs 3000 crore, ‘Dhurandhar’ franchise has created a new history in Indian cinema. Both the films of the series together have earned more than Rs 3,000 crore worldwide. ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ was released in March and has done a business of more than Rs 1700 crore at the global box office alone.
