Mathura Boat Tragedy: CM Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to rush to the spot, expedite relief and rescue efforts.

A boat carrying tourists capsized in Yamuna in Vrindavan on Friday.
At least ten people died after a boat carrying tourists capsized in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday afternoon.
The boat reportedly crashed into a pontoon bridge before overturning, Mathura Deputy Inspector General of Police Shailesh Kumar Pandey said.
“Based on eyewitness accounts so far, the prima facie cause of the accident appears to be the boat colliding with the pontoon bridge, which led to it capsizing. Ten bodies have been recovered from the site,” Pandey said.
According to officials, around 30 pilgrims from Ludhiana were on board when the boat overturned in the Yamuna. While 16–17 people have been rescued safely, efforts are ongoing to locate those still missing.
Rescue operations are being carried out by teams from the Fire Services and the police, along with local divers and boatmen, as well as personnel from the NDRF and SDRF.
A local diver, identified as Gulab, said that around 15 people have been pulled out so far.
