बंगाल में आज आ सकती है सप्लीमेंट्री वोटर लिस्ट: 27 लाख वोटरों पर असर; दावा- काम के दबाव में एक और BLO की मौत

Supplementary voter list may be released in West Bengal today. According to the Election Commission, out of about 60 lakh voters kept ‘under adjudication’, verification of cases of 27 lakh has been completed.

In fact, in the final voter list released on February 28, about 60 lakh voters were kept in ‘under adjudication’. That is, the investigation was started by withholding the final decision on the names of those whose documents or eligibility were in doubt.

Out of these, verification of 27 lakh cases has been completed. The decision to keep or remove the names of these voters will be included in the supplementary voter list.

Meanwhile, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) died in Malda. The family alleges that he died due to work pressure.

BLO dies in Malda, family alleges work pressure

A booth level officer (BLO) died of a heart attack in Malda district. 54-year-old BLO Utpal Thakur was posted at a booth in Chanchal-II block.

The family alleges that they were under constant work pressure during the SIR process. About 110 voters were ‘under adjudication’ at his booth. Due to which people were continuously reaching out to get information from him. However, no police complaint has been lodged in this matter.

63.66 lakh names removed, investigation of 60 lakh continues

After the SIR process, 63.66 lakh names have been removed so far, which is about 8.3% of the total voters. Due to this the voter base has reduced from 7.66 crore to 7.04 crore. At the same time, more than 60 lakh voters are still ‘under adjudication’, on which further decision is to be taken.

Voting on 23rd and 29th April, counting on 4th May

Voting will be held in two phases on 294 seats of West Bengal on 23rd and 29th April. The result will come on 4th May.

SIR among 4 states, Tamil Nadu has maximum number of names cut

Among the five states where elections are going to be held, after SIR, the maximum number of voters’ names have been deleted from Tamil Nadu. The Election Commission said that when the SIR process started on October 27, 2025, there were a total of 6,41,14,587 voters in the state. Names of 74,07,207 people have been removed from the SIR which lasted for about four months. There are now 5,67,07,380 voters registered in the state.

Whereas West Bengal is at second place where names of about 58 lakh people have been deleted. Then the names of 8 lakh people in Kerala, 2 lakh in Assam and at least 77 thousand people in Puducherry were removed from the voter list after the SIR process. Special Revision (SR) was conducted in Assam.
