PM Modi’s West Bengal Visit Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit West Bengal on January 17 and 18, during which he will inaugurate and flag off multiple rail, road and infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 4,000 crore.
On Friday, the Prime Minister will travel to Malda Town Railway Station, where he is scheduled to flag off India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train connecting Howrah and Guwahati (Kamakhya) at around 12.45 pm.
He will also virtually launch the Guwahati–Howrah return service.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Sleeper marks a significant step for Indian Railways, bringing premium overnight travel to routes linking eastern and northeastern India.
The 16-coach train, to be operated and maintained by the Northeast Frontier Railway zone, will feature 11 AC 3-tier coaches, four AC 2-tier coaches and one AC First Class coach.
During the same event, the Prime Minister will virtually flag off four new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These services will connect New Jalpaiguri with Nagercoil and Tiruchirappalli, and Alipurduar with SMVT Bengaluru and Mumbai (Panvel).
On January 18, at around 3 pm, Prime Minister Modi will visit Singur in the Hooghly district, where he will inaugurate projects, lay foundation stones, and flag off new development works worth approximately ₹830 crore.
