IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras, has opened admissions for the second batch of its Advanced Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning. The programme is aimed at working professionals who want to build industry-ready AI solutions and apply data-driven decision-making at scale.

The seven-month programme is designed to help learners develop a strong foundation in applied artificial intelligence and deep learning, with a focus on building production-ready models.

It addresses the growing shift of deep learning from experimentation to real-world deployment across sectors such as retail, banking and financial services, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing and government, where organisations increasingly rely on AI for forecasting, automation and optimisation.

The course will be delivered as a LIVE online programme in collaboration with TimesPro. Participants will be trained in machine learning, deep learning and statistical methods, along with hands-on experience in Python-based data analysis.

The curriculum includes practical exposure to tools such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, while also covering MLOps and cybersecurity fundamentals through case-based learning and applied projects.

The growing demand for AI skills is reflected in recent industry reports. According to McKinsey’s State of AI survey, 88 per cent of respondents now use AI regularly in at least one business function, up from 78 per cent last year.

A report by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) projects the global AI market to grow from USD 189 billion in 2023 to USD 4.8 trillion by 2033. In India, Fortune Business Insights estimates the AI market will expand from USD 13.05 billion in 2025 to USD 130.63 billion by 2032.

Speaking on the announcement, Dr. Suchitra Veeravalli, Consultant, IITM Pravartak, said, “Applied AI now demands engineers who can move from models to measurable value. Through this Advanced Certificate, IITM Pravartak connects IIT Madras’ research strengths with hands-on training in machine learning, deep learning and MLOps. Learners will build and validate solutions using Python, TensorFlow and PyTorch, while sharpening responsible and secure AI practices for industry use, at scale with reliability.”

On completing the programme, participants can explore roles such as Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Data Analyst, AI/ML Research Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Engineer, Deep Learning Engineer and Quantitative Analyst, among others.

The first batch drew participants from sectors including automotive, banking, software, education, healthcare and research, with senior professionals such as CTOs, directors, solution architects and technical leads also enrolling.

The programme is open to graduates and postgraduates in engineering, mathematics and computational sciences, as well as working professionals seeking to shift into AI-focused roles. It will follow a Direct-to-Digital format with interactive online sessions led by IIT Madras faculty and industry experts, along with assignments, webinars and a campus immersion at the IIT Madras Research Park. Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Completion from IITM Pravartak, the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras.
