The 56th Film Festival of India (IFFI) started on 20 November 2025 in Goa.
The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025) concluded in Goa on Friday. Many filmmakers and artists from all over the world participated in this nine-day long festival.
The closing ceremony was attended by Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan joined.
Apart from this, actors like superstar Rajinikanth, Ranveer Singh, Rishabh Shetty, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tovino Thomas, Vineet Singh, German actress Katharina Schuttler, Rajeshwari Sachdev, Ramesh Sippy and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra were also present.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was also seen at the Film Festival of India.

Rajinikanth got the honor Rajinikanth was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for completing 50 years in Indian cinema. Rajinikanth reached Goa in the morning, where the hotel staff and fans welcomed him.
In the video posted on social media, he was seen politely greeting the fans amidst the echo of drums. His family also attended the function in the evening.

At the ceremony, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant honored Rajinikanth by draping him with a shawl and presenting him a memento.

On receiving the honour, Rajinikanth said,
I stand here with great humility and gratitude and heartily thank the government of the country for appreciating and honoring my work of 50 years. If I look back, I feel that I have worked only for 10-15 years and the reason for this is only my love for cinema and acting. Therefore, even after 100 years, I would like to be born again as an actor, i.e. Rajinikanth. Thank you for your love and affection.

Tribute paid to late artists including Dharmendra
In the closing program, tribute was also paid to the veterans of the film industry who passed away this year. Dharmendra, Kamini Kaushal, Sulakshana Pandit, Satish Shah, Piyush Pandey, Zubeen Garg and Shyam Benegal were remembered in the presentation titled ‘In fond remembrance of the artists we lost’.
Announcement of Awards
Vietnamese film ‘Skin of Youth’ received this year’s Golden Peacock Award at IFFI. The film’s director Ash Mayfair and actress Tran Quan received the honor on stage.
The Silver Peacock for Best Actor (Male) award went to Ubimar Rios for the film ‘A Poet’, while the Best Actress award went to Zara Sofija Ostan.
Santosh Dawakhar, director of Marathi film ‘Gondhal’ was awarded the Best Director (Silver Peacock) award.
Iranian director Hessam Farahmand and Estonian filmmaker Tonis Pil jointly received the Best Debut Director award.
Norwegian film ‘Safe House’ was awarded ICFT-UNESCO Gandhi Medal. This film was praised for clearly showing the struggle between humanity and right and wrong.
Akinola Davis Jr. was given the Special Jury Award for the film ‘My Father’s Shadow’.
The Indian Panorama section this year included 25 feature films, 20 non-feature films and 5 debut features.
Karan Singh Tyagi received the Best Debut Director award for the film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’.
The award was also given in the OTT category for the first time in IFFI 2025. The web series ‘Bandish Bandits Season 2’ was chosen as the best web series.
