Shaktiman actor Mukesh Khanna has once again demanded to make ‘Vande Mataram’ the national anthem of the country instead of ‘Jana Gana Mana’. Speaking to ANI, he claimed that ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written in praise of George V during the British rule. Therefore it should not be considered the national anthem. ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written for the British ruler. Mukesh Khanna said that in ‘Jana Gana Mana’ the word ‘Adhinayak’ has been used for the British ruler, who was said to be the architect of India’s destiny. He said that devotion towards the motherland is visible in ‘Vande Mataram’, hence it should get more importance at the national level. According to Mukesh Khanna, even after years of independence, English education and British era systems are being given more importance in the country. Earlier too, Mukesh Khanna had given controversial statements regarding the national anthem. He was trolled in the name of Queen Elizabeth. Then he had claimed that ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written by Rabindranath Tagore in praise of Queen Elizabeth. After this statement, people trolled him on social media. Users were reminded that ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was first sung in 1911, while Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926. Central Government issued new guidelines: Earlier, the Central Government had issued new instructions to all the states, union territories and central ministries regarding the national anthem Jana-Gana-Mana and national song Vande Mataram. The Ministry has said that it is already decided in the rules in which programs it is necessary for both to sing or play. The ministry said that in the same programme, first of the two would be Vande and then Jana-Gana-Mana. In states where there is a state song, the sequence has to be followed. A letter was sent to all states and ministries on July 9, information about which came to light on Friday. All states have been asked to always sing and play the national anthem and anthem as per their original words, correct pronunciation and as per the prescribed rules. For this, official copies of both have been uploaded on the website of the ministry. The national song Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra in 1875. The national song of India Vande Mataram was written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on 7 November 1875 on Akshaya Navami. It was first printed in his magazine Bangadarshan in 1882 as part of his novel Anandamath. Rabindranath Tagore sang Vande Mataram on stage at the session of the Indian National Congress in 1896. This was the first time that this song was sung publicly at the national level. The eyes of thousands of people present in the meeting became moist. Vande Mataram is a Sanskrit phrase, which means- O Mother, I bow to you. During the freedom struggle, Vande Mataram became the slogan of the freedom fighters struggling to free India from colonial rule. National anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was written in 1911. According to historical facts, ‘Jana Gana Mana’ was composed by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in 1911. It was first sung on 27 December 1911 at the Kolkata session of the Indian National Congress. It was adopted as the national anthem of India by the Constituent Assembly on 24 January 1950. The song ‘Vande Mataram’ written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee has been given the status of national song.
