PM Modi hoisted the saffron flag atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, calling it the fulfilment of a 500-year civilisational resolve and a moment that heals “centuries-old wounds.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday ceremonially hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj atop the Ram Temple’s towering shikhar in Ayodhya, marking what he described as the “fulfilment of a 500-year civilisational resolve.”
Speaking before thousands of devotees, with millions watching across the country, the Prime Minister said the moment signified not just the completion of the Ram Mandir but the rising of a renewed civilisational confidence in India.
Prime Minister Modi opened his address by emphasising that the bond with Lord Ram transcends every barrier, identity, caste, region, or status, because it originates from emotion, devotion, and shared cultural memory.
“We connect with our Ram not through distinctions, but through emotions,” he said, underlining the unity that the figure of Shri Ram inspires across generations and geographies.
Calling the day “epochal,” the Prime Minister said that India and the world were “Ram-may“, immersed in devotion and collective joy.
The installation of the Dharma Dhwajhe added, was not merely a ritual but a moment that symbolised the healing of “wounds and pain carried for centuries” and the culmination of a spiritual yajna kept alive for half a millennium.
He described the flag as an embodiment of India’s civilisational resurgence, representing both sacrifice and victory.
Modi also framed the Dharma Dhwaj as a beacon for the future, one that would, for millennia, proclaim Ram’s message of truth, compassion, and righteous conduct.
He spoke of the flag’s symbolism, detailing how its saffron colour, the About symbol, the Suryavansh emblem, and the sacred Kovidara tree reflect the ideals of Ram Rajya, dignity, justice, equality, and harmony.

Lord Ram, he said, inspires a society rooted in values, cooperation, humility, and collective strength, virtues India must embrace as it moves toward the vision of a Developed India by 2047.
