What these boys have done is unbelievable: Rahul Dravid
Rahul Dravid said that they are like family. What these boys have done is unbelievable. Hard work, resilience, never-say-die attitude, constantly trying to get better. Rohit Sharma led brilliantly. I will miss this love. What we saw today is amazing. These fans and people are the ones who make cricket a sport. It is the greatest sport in the world. I wasn’t sure if I would continue playing after the 50-over World Cup. Rohit picking up the phone and saying, “Rahul, let’s take another chance”. I am very grateful for what I experienced in Barbados. Probably one of the best phone calls I have received in my life. Definitely good. Great way to finish. There are so many things I will miss. The boys, the support staff. I am standing here today because of the rest of the support staff.
It has been a very up and down four days: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli said that a big thank you to everyone who came to the stadium and what we saw on the streets is something I will never forget in my life. The four days were full of ups and downs. We wanted to get out of Barbados as soon as possible, wanted to return to India. What has happened since we have come back is unprecedented. We were also wondering if it would get out of hand again. What happened in those last five overs was really special. I would like to mention a player who brought us back again and again, and what he did in those last two overs was unprecedented.
Virat said that after the game I felt that this is it. Now it is time to step back. I remember when I won that World Cup. I could not connect with the emotions of the senior players at that time. I was 22, 23 years old. But now, it is a different feeling. Now, to be in this situation. Both of us (Rohit) were trying for so long. The only purpose was to take the team forward for so long. There can be no better place to come back. The last time we won at Wankhede, it was a great feeling. I love playing here. This is the first time I have seen Rohit showing so many emotions on the field. I was crying, he was crying.
Thank you India: Hardik Pandya
On the other hand, Hardik Pandya thanked India for the grand welcome. He wrote on Instagram, “India, you mean the world to me! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your love. These are moments I will never forget! Thank you for coming to celebrate with us despite the rain! We love you so much! Celebrating with you is why we do what we do! We are all champions! All 1.4 billion of us! Thank you Mumbai, thank you India.”
