Saudi Arabia is in big trouble after Houthi rebels captured large areas of Yemen’s Red Sea coast and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia’s Mecca defense coalition partner, has refused to send its troops or military resources to fight in Yemen, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post.
Pakistan has said that its army can be deployed to protect the land of Saudi Arabia, but it will not get involved in war on the land of any other country.
After this, Saudi Arabia has now sought intelligence help from Israel to deal with Houthi military action. This conversation took place under the mediation of America.
The special thing is that Saudi Arabia does not recognize Israel as an independent country. It also does not have diplomatic relations with Israel. Despite this, Riyadh has sought help from Israel.

Pakistan-Saudi signed defense agreement in August
‘An attack on one means an attack on all three.’ With this principle, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey had signed the ‘Makkah Joint Defense Pact’ on 7 August.
This agreement between the three countries was considered by many experts as an important step in the direction of ‘Muslim NATO’. The reason for this was that this agreement talks about increasing collective security cooperation among the member countries like NATO.
Under this, the three countries will provide military assistance to each other if needed, make joint purchases of modern weapons, share defense technology and work together in security-related matters.
Apart from this, there is also a separate treaty of collective self-defense between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Despite this, after the Houthi attack, Pakistan clearly refused to provide military help to Saudi.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the agreement in Mecca on August 7.
America and Britain also did not help Saudi
The attack by Houthi rebels in Yemen and the rapidly increasing occupation has increased Saudi’s problems. According to the report, Saudi Arabia is now contacting its allies for help.
Apart from Pakistan, America and Britain have also refused to carry out direct attacks against the Houthi organization in Yemen. America has offered to provide intelligence help, while Britain is asking for military advisors.
According to the Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman have also sought help from other Gulf countries and Egypt to deal with the Houthi attacks.
Houthi rebels capture two more islands in the Red Sea
Yemen’s Houthi rebels have captured two more important islands in the southern Red Sea. According to the Yemeni government, the Houthis have deployed their fighters on Greater Hanish and Lesser Hanish islands. These islands are about 160 km north of the Bab-el Mandeb Strait.
Earlier last week, the Houthis had also captured the port city of Mokha, situated on the Red Sea, and Mayun Island in the Bab-el Mandeb. Both these places were under the control of Yemeni government forces supported by Saudi Arabia.
The capture of these islands by the Houthis has further strengthened their dominance over the sea route of the Red Sea. The Bab-el-Mandeb is a shortcut route for ships traveling from Asia to Europe. After passing through here, the ships reach the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal.

If Bab al-Mandeb is closed, ships will have to take a longer route.
If tensions increase near Bab al-Mandeb and the movement of ships stops, ships plying between Asia and Europe will have to go around Africa.
Currently ships go through the Red Sea and Suez Canal. If this route is closed, they will have to go from the southern end of Africa via Cape of Good Hope.
Due to this, ships will have to cover thousands of kilometers more distance and the journey will take several more days. This will increase the cost of fuel and shipping.
If the road remains closed for a long time, there may be a delay in the delivery of goods. Prices of oil, petrol-diesel and other imported items may increase. This may also affect import costs and inflation in India.

Fighting has been going on in Yemen for 12 years
Fighting has been going on in Yemen between the government and Houthis for almost 12 years. Saudi Arabia supports Yemen’s government, while the Houthis are backed by Iran.
There was a ceasefire between the two sides in 2022. After this, large-scale fighting had reduced significantly. Now after the advance of Houthis, the danger of a major civil war has arisen again in Yemen.
